Panel Discussion and Teach-In
As part of the month of #RefugeesWelcome actions in 30+ cities across Canada, St. John's will be hosting a panel discussion and teach-in on the refugee crisis, immigration, and inclusion, with the aim of raising awareness and addressing some common misconceptions.
--Yolande Pottie-Sherman, a professor of urban geography at Memorial University whose research focuses on immigration, inclusion, and exclusion.
--Eyad Sakkar, a Syrian-Canadian living in St. John's.
--Jose Rivera, director of the St. John's-based Refugee and Immigrant Advisory Council.
--Remzi Cej, chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission.
